If you have Shimano Down-tube shifters you will need to make sure you have a pair of ‘Standard’ flat washers (pictured above right) to fit them to your Retroshift units. Older shifters will often have a curved type washers suitable for fitting against the Down-tube of a steel frame. Newer Shimano Dura-Ace 9 & 10sp units have been shipping with this standard flat washers.
If you have one of the newer sets of Shimano 10sp Bar-end shifters that come with one standard and one ‘Fat’ washer you will need to order a single ‘Standard’ washer. Older versions will likely have the ‘Standard’ washers.
Simply put, you will want a ‘Standard’ flat washer for each shifter.
